Maitena Barrero, who has her own Basque winery and works for the Sunday TImes Wine Club has joined San Sebastian Food as wine consultant. She is responsible for our wine selection, tastings and courses and adds great wine knowledge and experience to our team.

Our tour was given by Lourdes, who is great company. Lovely lively honest and down to earth commentary and good conversation. We visited a number of very interesting places with great Pintxos and good wine. It's not cheap, but I can recommend unreservedly.

The guide, Lourdes, was fluent in english and knowledgable about the history of San Sebastian. She knew the best places to taste the wonderful food and which Pinxtos bar specialised in which foods - and the best wines to couple them with ! A great orientation for us-we re-visited many of them the next night. It really helped us appreciate just what a lovely place the old town of San Sebastian is.

By taking this tour on our first day, we had much more confidence ordering at the bars and our next few evenings on our own were 1000 times better because of it. The tour with Lourdes was fun with a wide variety of food and wine. She took care to match the food and wine and to find us the best pintxos in the bars that day. Well worth it!
