I would highly recommend the pintxo tour. Although I took a similar tour in Madrid, pintxo are at a diferrent level to rest of Spain. I took this tour on my first evening and we went to a mix of traditional and modern.

We (a couple from Stockholm, Sweden) have just returned back from our visit at San Sebastian during the Eastern holiday. We had booked the Pintxo Tasting Tour, and met up with our knowledgeable guide Elin and a nice couple from OC /California. As we had tried a lot of pintxos the day before we thought we had tried the most - but we had not! It was an indescribable experience.

There are so many bars in the old town that it's very difficult to know where to start which is where Jon and his tour comes in. Not only were we taken to some great places but we also learnt things about the pintxo tradition and the customs of this part of Spain that we couldn't have got from anywhere else. My advice to anyone on a visit to San Sebastian would be to book the tour.

My wife and I wanted to see how Pinxto tasting was done by the locals and avoid making some first timer mistakes, and this seemed like worth a try. It turned out to be the perfect way to see old town and not get lost trying Pintxo bars (or pinxtos) that weren't of the best calibre. Memorable, worth every penny, highly recommend.

They say San Sebastian is all about the food, and as a solo traveller, I thought the best way to sample the food and meet other travellers was to do a tour. I chose the Pinxtos tasting tour run by Jon at San Sebastian food and had a great night. Some of the tastes were amazing and it definitely shows that pintxos is more than just a Basque word for tapas.

We did a pintxo tour with San Sebastian Food and absolutely loved it! Easy to book, friendly owner, *fantastic* local guide and GREAT FOOD!! The bars our guide chose were super and the pintxos we tried were excellent. For us, non-spanish speaking foodies, this was the perfect introduction to the pintxo culture. We met some great people on the tour, and went back to a couple of the bars to further enjoy the pintxos and wines we'd been introduced to. Only wish we could have stayed longer and done more tours with them!!

The evening pintxos tasting tour was so enjoyable and lasted a generous 2hrs and was fantastic. Ellie is delightful and she took us to bars we would not have found or perhaps trusted to try on our own. My wife and I visited San Sebastian for our 10th wedding anniversary. Eli from SSF took us on a private pintxo tour on the Saturday night and was excellent - ordering hot pintxos from the blackboards allowing us to try 6 different pintxo bars and their specialities. SSF also helped to organise our car transfers from Bilbao and Jon was superhelpful in suggesting places to see/ restaurants to try.
